God's own county: Yorkshire Mix
Most Yorkshire people are proud of their heritage and ancestry, and Yorkshire has made a significant contribution to the confectionery and chocolate world. So many favourite sweets were invented here. However only one holds the proud name of “Yorkshire Mix”!
There are numerous stories of how Yorkshire Mix came into being – one is that trays of boiled sweets were dropped and got mixed up and became known as Yorkshire Mix. The second story we like is that street sweet vendors would mix the sweets they had left at the end of the day and sell them as a “mix up”. Very frugal…!
We source our Yorkshire Mix from two Yorkshire factories, Maxons of Sheffield and Joseph Dobsons of Elland, so it is truly made in Yorkshire.
You will always find Pear Drops, Fruit Rock, Fishes and Humbugs in the mix along with various other treats. We always keep the jar near the till as they are so popular!
