It’s a very busy week in the shop this week now we have the official go-ahead to open. Pallets of sweets are arriving, just the last bit of varnishing and painting to be completed and a good clean and tidy so we are ready for opening on Monday, 12th April.

It has been a long year with all the lockdowns and changes, though our Kiosk system worked well over the summer. This system will remain in place until at least the end of June. Then things will depend on government guidelines as we need to be careful because not all the team will have been vaccinated so the kiosk may stay a little longer, due to the size of the shop.

We were very lucky in the fact we just about had the website ready when the first lockdown took place a year ago and we have been adding to it throughout the year. Some of the first orders saw us driving around the local area delivering – we found places we didn’t know existed and, on several occasions, got very lost! We have had some lovely feedback on how the arrival of sweets through the post have cheered people up and made them smile during some very tough times. The website has become a permanent fixture now so all our wonderful holidaymakers, who come back to Helmsley year after year for sweets will be able to order online when they are at home. There will be another 35+ sweets waiting to be uploaded over the next few weeks, which I know will make certain people very happy. We will not be able to put all the sweets on, but please contact us if you would like something that is not there yet.

Our new product, which goes on sale in the shop from Monday and will be the 100th addition to the website is the good old fashioned Lucky Bag. There will not be a toy in it, but if you are lucky there are some fabulous sweetie gifts to claim. The bags will consist of anything found in the shop (except nuts); no two bags will be the same. For those of you who find it hard to choose, they will be the answer to your indecision. You never know, you may find a sweet you have never tried before.

We are so excited to be back open and looking forward to chatting with all our regulars as well as new customers who may stumble on the delights of Helmsley and all it has to offer.

The shop will be open 7 days a week from 10 am. Closing times will be on the backboard.

All that remains to be said is… “We will see you on Monday”!
