Sweet Nostalgia
Not many things are certain in life, but we can virtually guarantee you will smile when walking into our shop! We develop deep emotional bonds with certain food products and sweets are amazing for taking us back to times during our childhood. They transport us back to the time in our lives when things were simpler and innocent.
One question we are often asked is “What is your favourite sweet?”, people are often disappointed when I have to say the humble mint in any form! The reason for this is that I always ate mints with my grandad, who was my hero. He always had a whitepaper bag full of various mints in his pockets – maybe extra strong mints or mint imperials. As a treat my grandma would sometimes buy him one of the small tins of mints that were peppermint and very strong.
The second reason for my answer refers back to M A Cravens, where my uncle worked. We would often be given bags of waste and in these bags were Old English Mints. These would stick to my teeth and I was always in trouble at the dentist!
Don’t get me wrong, I love all traditional sweets, but the humble mint makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside as I eat it, as it reminds me of such happy times.
